          • 7 month training period in Montreal involving research and formal training in workshop facilitation. Followed by 3 months in Senegal working with various Senegalese NGO’s, providing training in workshop facilitation and assisting a group of Senegalese youth in the preparation of popular education workshops on the effects of IMF/World Bank policies in Senegal.

    Noteworthy Accomplishments:

    • (Jan. ’99) Successful launch of “the People’s Potato”, a free vegetarian lunch service for Concordia students.
    • (Feb. ’99) Successful negotiation of a settlement regarding a series of student demands stemming from a 3 day student strike. This negotiated agreement, which was approved by both the Concordia Administration and by a General Assembly of over 500 students, included a fee freeze, which would save students collectively over $1.5 million per year.
    • (Mar. ’00) Re-elected to second term as CSU President in an Election which at the time broke records both for the highest voter turn-out and for the most votes cast for a presidential candidate in the history of the union.
    • (Sep ’00) Successful campaign to pressure the university to respect a student referendum demanding that the university not renew its washroom advertising contract with Zoom media.
    • (Oct. ’00) Successful referendum campaign to seek Accreditation as a student association in accordance with provincial bill 32. This campaign required a voter turn-out of over 50% and won for the union several rights and protections in it’s relationship vis-à-vis the university. This campaign also formally united the student body thereby resolving the longstanding question of whether or not students in the faculty of Commerce and the faculty Engineering and Computer Science would be considered full members of the CSU.

  • ComECH-Quebec is an ad hoc committee created by the English Parents’ Committee Association (EPCA), Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network (QAHN) and the Quebec Federation of Home and School Associations (QFHSA) to raise awareness about the serious problems with the representation of minority groups in the latest reform to Quebec’s History curriculum.
